The shocking moment a 14-year-old boy was sent sliding several metres down a Perth road during an alleged hit-and-run has been caught on camera.

Robert Corps spent the night in Royal Perth Hospital with a broken leg and serious grazes after he collided with a Hyundai i30 hatch while crossing William St in Beckenham on Wednesday.

The moment of impact, which unfolded just before 4pm, was captured on CCTV.

The vision shows the schoolboy being launched down the road in the city’s southeast before coming to a stop.

“It’s hard to believe he’s only got a broken leg and a bump on the head,” his father Troy Corps said, having watched the security footage.

Robert will need surgery on his right leg and doctors have also picked up a laceration on his kidney that will need to be monitored.

Strangers who had been filling up their cars at the nearby petrol station rushed to help the boy in the moments after the incident.

“What can you say? You’d like to say you’d do the same thing, but a lot of people wouldn’t. They’re just special people,” Troy said.

Cameras showed the driver pull over but police allege she did not get out of the car and fled the scene three minutes later.

Major Crash officers have charged a 19-year-old woman with failing to stop and provide assistance.

Police also seized the p-plater’s car from a location in Welshpool.

The accused will appear in Armadale Magistrates Court on October 13.
