Four women allegedly kidnapped, sexually assaulted after being offered lifts by man in Cairns

A Queensland man has allegedly kidnapped and sexually assaulted four women after offering them lifts over a nearly two-year period.

The man allegedly targeted women in the Cairns region from October 2021 to August this year.

“The man offered the women lifts before taking them to his home and sexually assaulting them,” police said on Thursday.

His alleged offending occurred against the woman individually in October 2021, October 2022, July 2022 and August 2023.

He has been charged with four counts of kidnapping and three counts of sexual assault.

The charges came after a “protracted investigation”, police said.

The victims are not known to each other.

The man remains behind bars ahead of an expected appearance in Cairns Magistrates Court on Thursday.
